Real Cosmetics
is the result of two driving passions: one born of practicality,
one born of social conscience.
Company founder Lubna Khalid (CEO, film-maker, former model)
could never find a foundation shade to match her skin tone.
Knowing this to be a common problem, she vowed to create “real”
make-up for all complexions.
Lubna also recognized the larger problem: in a culture where
“ideal beauty” is narrowly defined and portrayed,
the majority of people who don’t fit this ideal feel
alienated, unable to relate to typical beauty icons featured
in popular media.
Lubna’s solution to both problems
was to launch Real Cosmetics
in 1999, a cosmetic brand committed to empowerment through
personal enhancement and diversity of beauty ideals. All-encompassing
in its philosophy and practices, Real
Cosmetics not only offers a global spectrum
of make-up created on real women, but features
images of real women…each unique, each
beautiful.
To help create an all-inclusive range of
colors and drive new product technology, Lubna enlisted the
talents of Roque Cozzette (make-up/hair stylist, esthetician,
educator and product innovator). Frustrated with limited color
choices in professional cosmetics, Roque called on his background
in color theory to develop Real
Cosmetics’ four true-color undertones,
ensuring make-up that looks “real” on every skin
tone. Real Cosmetics
not only offers products that are ideal for both consumers
and beauty professionals, but also provides technical education,
artistic instruction and simple, user-friendly tips.
Innovative and barrier-breaking,
Real Cosmetics is
the true future of beauty: beauty that goes way beyond
skin deep.
